We got married there and were completely satisfied. The organization, the service, the location - everything is great! If I hadn't found the woman of my life, I would say "again anytime".
It was good food, coffee, cake and place. I was there on valentine day and they decorate the room with balloon whole over the room. It was pretty.
Wow what an amazing place. Just had a cup of tea and coffee there and some cake. All hygienic standards are given. I really love the high ceilings and the lights in there. Must be amazing for conference’s, meetings and party’s or special occasions.
Hygiene among guests? ... In particular, the minimum distances obviously "do not matter" - whether from a household or not - everything is personal responsibility. Or? Closed society does what it wants? - I don't know, is that right?
A place that has been beautiful for a long time to indulge your eyes and palate. The premises are beautiful, the service very attentive and extremely hard-working (often asked). So far I have only been there for breakfast and brunch, but it was without exception delicious and always lovingly presented. It is certainly not one of the cheap cafés in Hamburg for breakfast, but it is also a far cry from a cheap fast-food restaurant. Sit, look, eat and enjoy - that's the program here!
It is an exquisite place !! I went with some friends to eat brunch and we left very happy there is a waiter who knows Spanish and he treated us very kindly. I recommend it.
Highly priced, but great ambience and nice atmosphere
Great ambience. Super delicious food. Always my pleasure.
Last week I was back home after a long time. I was with two friends for coffee and cake in this beautiful café. Here you can feel a wonderful attentive service mentality of service. Keep it up.
I was in the great café for the first time on Saturday and had a good start to the day with my boyfriend and mother. Prices are a bit higher, but perfectly justified for this great service and good quality. The service is super attentive but not pushy. We all got breakfast at the same time so no one had to wait. Coffee very good. Conclusion: I would recommend it to anyone who values good service and quality. Great ambience and very interesting building.
Nice, cozy, were there for breakfast.
It would be nice if you would let Asians in instead of refusing them with the excuse that you need a reservation and then simply offer a table to the next older German couple without a reservation. A bitter disappointment.
nice atmosphere, good breakfast, professional service
Coffee, sparkling wine and apple strudel ordered, champagne forgotten, came on demand after 15 minutes. Apple strudel did not come. To make exclusive, unfortunately it is not anymore. Only the room is still incredibly beautiful.
The ambience is unbeatable if a bit getting old. Quality of the breakfast reasonably priced, only the service is currently a bit weak. All in all, nevertheless worthwhile
Old-school German café which can be a nice place if they trained one of the particular/peculiar waiters better. I was here on Christmas Day with a local and being greeted with “what are you doing here”. Then we enjoys two drinks and a small chat with the gents (also local Hamburgers) sitting next to our table, during which this waiter managed to always cutting in in the middle of the conversation and being too busy to glance at us when we needed something. Right before leaving for dinner, the gents offered us a Prosecco each and ordered for us. Apart from making us wait for 10 mins to get one of his colleagues asking him to print the bill for us, he put 4 Prosecco on our bill and deliberately threw away the receipt before my friend having a second look at it. Could be my fault always trusting the professionals and checking the bill on my way out of a restaurant or café, after paying. When my friend pointed out his mistake, the best solution he offered was, “you can ask those men sitting next to you for the 18 euros back. Our system can’t redo the bill once it’s printed.” I feel sorry that the two gents had to explain it with embarrassment to another colleague of him (presumably his manager) to get us the cash back. Tips to visit this café: - always check and double-check your bill before you pay; - if a pale, blonde, medium-height and weight and halfway-on-being-bald waiter greeted you, try going there another day instead and hope you have better luck. Or you are increasing the possibility not to enjoy the services by 100%.
I was in this café with my girlfriend on Christmas Day and we saw an extremely unfriendly waiter. He treated us very inappropriately and finally gave us an invoice with the wrong amount (18 euros more) and without apologizing. It was a rather disappointing visit. Unqualified and incompetent for a café that is always recommended. Too bad, I will not recommend it.
It's okeee, The name of the location is really appropriate for the ambiance, but the expectations were a bit clouded when eating. In terms of price, this also raises the expectation of gastronomy Greatly described but the love is missing something. You can go there and try it but unfortunately it will not be your favorite place. That's a pity.
I went there with my friend to try the tipical german breakfast. Food and service very good.
super good food ! best stroganov i ever had ....
It is a very nice cafe with a varied menu and having breakfast in this great setting really brings joy. The staff is very attentive, however, the noise is at times a bit noisy. I will go back to all.
We were here for the birthday breakfast with 10 people. Can highly recommend the brunch. There is nothing missing and it is pleasant that you get everything at the table. The service was great too. Nobody was a big couscous fan for us, but everything else was well selected and tasty. Gladly again!
Beautiful interior and good for breakfast.
Great building, nice ambience - great big hall with chandelier and painted stucco ceiling, lovingly set. We were there for brunch and this was very extensive. Plenty of choice, freshly prepared, delicious. Staff very friendly and fast. Child friendly - high chairs, toys, understanding staff.
Directly on the Aussenalster in Hamburg Uhlenhorst lies the Literaturhauscafe, which I visited for the first time today. What a beautiful building with high ceilings and ceiling paintings. And what a wonderful architecture ... wonderful! The food was also very good and in an affordable setting ... the service was super friendly and attentive. All in all, a successful afternoon.
Absolute insider tip sehr, very nice and courteous staff, gigantic breakfast, great start to a beautiful day
The Literaturhauscafe not only has a great menu with varied breakfasts to choose from (all named after famous writers!), it also has a fantastic ambience - a gentle buzz of conversation that doesn't get too loud even when it's busy. We also found the building itself stunning - the decor is great to look at and the dining room gets a lot of light.
Great service and food, nice location
Absolutely charming place. The food is very well prepared. I loved the entrecote accompanied by vegetables, the cream of asparagus and the struddel with ice cream
Quiet café with good service in a 'literatural' atmosphere. I was there on a Friday morning for breakfast and loved it. Food was great and the service personnel very attentive. We enjoyed the heavy furniture, witness of a 100-years long history. Frescos and candelabras on the ceilings contribute on their own. Despite the higher than average prices, this café is well worth a visit. Even though it's not too easy to reach.
The food was pretty good and the eating area is very nice. The cakes looks super yummy and taste pretty good too. You can book a room and have a meeting with your team and at the same time take the advantage to have lunch there.
Good place for having a professional meeting
Very nice location with grand inside and lovely food. The service however was very slow - only two waitresses for the entire restaurant - but they were very friendly and professional.
Great foods
Beautiful, serene fine dining. We had a wonderful breakfast.
Here you can eat the best Benedi t eggs. Ideal for breakfast and lunch. Specially in rainy days. Beautiful interiors and good service!
Nice place, but no atmosphere. Maybe just because we were there on a weekday.
1a Top
Coffee was not good ( way to light), even after asking for stronger coffee. Astrid Lindgren. Breakfast is nothing special, very average. But it's plenty. Service takes long and doesn't seem to care too much. For ap. 20 € p.P. it's very disappointing, especially because you have to pay 4.4 euro for a glass of orange juice. Can't recommend this place
Whenever I am in Hamburg I try to visit the Literaturhauscafe. Situated close to the Alster it is a great place to take a break from a long walk, The beautiful room inside boasts a fantastically high, stucko - decorated ceiling decorated. The food is great (though not outstanding).
Very nice old style cafe. Beautiful rooms.
Had a nice breakfast after 14H train ride.
Great spot!
Attentive and efficient staff in an outstanding venue. Good menu. More handmade or local products would have meant a big five stars
Great place for a piece of cake/tart and tea or coffee on a weekend afternoon. Rather upscale worth a historic interior and friendly service.
